Lionel Messi was given a wonderful reception ahead of Paris Saint-Germain's Ligue 1 opener on Saturday night.

It's been a whirlwind week for the Argentine, who left Barcelona after a 21-year association with the club last weekend. His free transfer to the French capital was completed very shortly afterwards.

It was an emotional exit from Barcelona for Messi
But now he's got an exciting project with PSG

PSG fans went crazy during his official unveiling on Wednesday and they're unsurprisingly still delighted that one of the game's greatest ever players is at their club.

Just before PSG took on Strasbourg at the Parc des Princes, the club organised a presentation for Messi, as well as PSG's other summer signings.

But the PSG fans will have to wait for Messi's debut as the 34-year-old has been deemed not fit enough to play at the moment.

Having also signed the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum and Achraf Hakimi this summer, PSG boast an incredible team that has every chance of winning the Champions League.

However, not everyone is getting lost in the excitement of the PSG circus - talkSPORT's Simon Jordan labelling them as 'not a proper club'.

"I don't think PSG, irrespective of how wonderful they are at circumnavigating financial fair play and what their football project looks like, they are not a proper football club," said the White and Jordan host on talkSPORT.

"A proper football club is the Manchester United and Liverpool's of the world and Manchester City are beginning to become one…

"But PSG for me are a canker sore on the side of football."
