Juventus Women have apologised after posting an offensive picture on Twitter.

The club tweeted the following image of a player wearing a cone on their head and performing a racist gesture on their official platform.

Following a huge backlash, the post was removed after around 25 minutes, and the club has since apologised.

A messaged read: "We sincerely apologise that our tweet, which was not meant to cause controversy or have any racial undertones, may have offended anyone.

"Juventus has always been against racism and discrimination. #DifferencesMakeTheDifference."

Juventus Women are the current champions of Italy and one of the first major female sides to be formed in the country.
