Another former Colorado State basketball player has reached the coaching realm's promised land.
Joining once-CSU women's star Becky Hammon on the NBA sidelines –– who will soon enter her eighth season with San Antonio's staff –– Milt Palacio became an official member of the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday.
Upon accepting an assistant role, Palacio takes his expertise to Portland following various coaching gigs, including a recent stint in Long Island as an assistant for the Brooklyn Nets' Development League affiliate (2018-21).
Before gradually ascending through the sideline ranks, the California native commenced his coaching tenure in the NCAA's Big Sky Conference via maintaining director of player development duties for Idaho (2013-15).
At CSU (1996-1999), Palacio constructed a memorable three-season playing career in which the guard seized first-team all-WAC honors in back-to-back campaigns to conclude his collegiate services.
Recognized as one of the Rams' best-ever facilitators and most potent on-ball defenders, Palacio currently ranks second on CSU's all-time leaderboard in assists (420) as well as steals (147). Overall, the backcourt threat averaged 12.1 points, 4.8 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest over a trio of campaigns in Fort Collins after transferring from Midland College.
Despite failing to hear his name called during 1999's draft, Palacio quickly signed a deal with the Vancouver Grizzlies en route to enjoying seven seasons in the NBA (1999-2006). He then constructed a respectable overseas playing tenure (2008-13) before transitioning to coaching.

The CSU football team obtained a local commitment on Monday afternoon when Dorion McGarity expressed intentions to join the Rams' 2022 class via Twitter.
While operating as a wideout/cornerback at Fort Collins High School, the 5-foot-10, 175-pound prospect accumulated 28 receptions for 320 yards and seven touchdowns throughout his junior campaign.
In addition to serving as the Lambkins' leading receiver in 2020-21, McGarity posted three solo tackles, broke up a trio of passes and forced one fumble on the defensive end during Fort Collins' six-game season.
