A motorcyclist is dead after a head-on traffic collision Wednesday morning on Colorado Boulevard and Weld County Road 13 in Windsor.

About 7:10 a.m., the Windsor Police Department responded to a traffic incident involving a motorcycle crash a half a mile south of Colo. 392, according to a department news release.

Police investigated the scene and determined the motorcyclist was heading northbound and attempted to pass another vehicle, which resulted in the head-on collision with a vehicle traveling southbound, according to Windsor police.

The motorcycle driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release. There were no other significant injuries sustained during the collision.

The Weld County Coroner's Office assisted with the investigation and will identify the motorcyclist pending notification of next of kin.

The roadway was closed for several hours after the crash.
