Success is much like embarking on an exciting adventure, a journey that many people aspire to undertake. However, not everyone can read the roadmap to turn their dreams into a reality.
Success is attainable for everyone with the right mindset and approach because it's not solely dependent on luck or talent, but rather determination and a willingness to learn and adapt.
The co-founder of Social Discovery Group and serial entrepreneur, Dmitry Borisovich Volkov, shared some valuable and informative insights into accomplishing success by capitalising on 'unfair advantage' in a recent talk at the meetup "Financing vs Bootstrapping" in Belgrade.
Volkov stated, "I think everyone of us now has an unfair advantage. Some are taller than others, some are stronger than others, some know certain people, and some possess special skills. I actually believe that the essence of bootstrapping is recognising your own unfair advantage."
Taking this into consideration, it appears that the initial step towards attaining success involves recognising and embracing your distinct qualities. This 'unfair advantage' is essentially anything that sets you apart from others, whether it's a specific skill set, a valuable network of connections or an in-depth understanding of a particular industry.
During his speech, Volkov explained how the significance of acknowledging and capitalising on these advantages are crucial elements to succeeding. As an entrepreneur with years of experience across several industries, Volkov has encountered a number of challenges. By embracing them and taking advantage of personal strengths, he has been able to navigate his way to prosperity.
"When you become a software development company, you actually find yourself in a position where you have even more unfair advantages because you get to see the businesses of your customers. So, if you are in the service business, you are actually exposed to a lot of opportunities. It's just a matter of how you recognise them," — Volkov exclaimed.
Starting a business opens up countless opportunities to achieve success and make a positive impact on the world around you. As an entrepreneur, you get to gain knowledge on different industries and learn what aspects contribute to their success, giving you valuable insights that can help you to shape your own road to achievement.
Volkov's experiences serve as an example of how recognising and using your personal expertise and knowledge within your specific field can lead to achieving success. By capitalising on your unique skills and understanding, it can open doors to new opportunities and lead to remarkable accomplishments.
